My name is Melissa Burgos. I am Latina (Puerto Rican to be specific). I was born and raised in the Boogie Down Bronx. I always had insecurities with my hair when I was younger which led to my first relaxer at 13. After I realized that the upkeep meant sitting in a salon for hours under heat, I gave up and embraced this (big) head of curls lol. Being an aunt of four beautiful nieces with curly hair, I feel like its my duty to show them that curly hair is special and to embrace it 🙂
