I liked this message from Andrea Lewis as part of her “Self-Love Saturdays” series.

It reminded me of a time where I was in a bitter mood on a regular basis. I was in college, going through a lot emotionally and did not show a lot of positivity. It took my mom to snatch me up (via a phone call from 338 miles away). She said frankly, “You’ve become mean.” No one wants to be the mean girl especially when it comes to family members who have done nothing more than fight for you and stand by your side through the hard times.
We all have times when we think no one knows what I’m going through…but please be mindful that you’re not the first one to have a problem. You’re not the first one to go through a storm. Yes we are all allowed our moments of self-pity, but for the sake of your sanity and the sake of others in your presence, don’t live there. Move past it.
And guess what, others are going through rough patches of their own that you know nothing about. Show them a little positivity because it might brighten their day amidst the difficult moment.
Lastly, always reflect on past storms. Did they last forever? Did you make it through? And if the answers are yes and yes, then what makes you think this will be any different? You will make it through this time as you did before!
