My name is Shanequa Jana’ or Shea, or Shea butta because I’m smooth lol.

I am from Cereal City in Michigan!

I have been natural for about two years now! I can’t remember when I started transitioning because it wasn’t purposely but I did my chop in February of 2012. My twin sister did it along with me so it helped that I wasn’t alone! I never turned back and I love it!!!

When I first began I had no idea what I was doing. I flat ironed my hair like every week because I wasn’t used to my curls. My hair suffered because of it.

I don’t regret coming back to natural, I only wish I had done it sooner and cut my hair shorter when I chopped it. I have learned so much about my hair and others! I’d love to one day be a hair guru. My style is continuously evolving to find what’s me and what I like.  I’ve recently come more and more into who I was created to be and loving who I am fully. And recognizing that Jesus Christ loves me as if I was the only person to love; but that still doesn’t take away His love for anyone else. 

What a beautiful love story!!! This hair journey has helped so much with me accepting who I am who for who I am. Don’t ever be afraid to step out and do something or try something that’s in your heart because you never know how it will inspire others. Be yourself and that alone will inspire other people! This isn’t the last you’ll be hearing from me!
