I am Whitney Madueke. I am 19 years. I live in Lagos,Nigeria. I am currently an undergraduate law student at the University of Reading, England.
My last relaxer was on the 20th of June,2012. I transitioned for months before deciding to go natural, as my hair kept tangling and breaking. The cold weather was not helpful. On the 13th of march,2013. It was a bright sunny day, after reaching the peak of frustration with my hair, I decided to have the big chop.
Boy, was it scary. As my sister chopped off hair, my smile was turning into a frown. I thought I had made a big mistake, as I only had one inch of new growth. The encouraging words of my friend “You look pretty”, helped boost my confidence. I told myself, I was beautiful at every glance at the mirror. Truly, my confidence grew tremendously.
On 1st of June, months later, it inspired me to start my vlog and blog – Leazz Way, on natural hair, style and beauty. It has helped inspire others, to embrace the beauty that is their hair in all its diversity. I am a 4c girl, with low porosity hair, high levels of shrinkage. I love it, nothing like it. I enjoy my wash days, when I use products like: V05 conditioner and/or shampoo, Castor Oil, Indian Hemp and my Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioner. I use the Shea Moisture deep treatment masque more during harsh weathers. I wash my hair every 2 days, in between I usually drench my hair in water. Its more manageable for me. I have a diary of my hair routine, which helps me maintain my hair even more.
I love experimenting with my hair. Moving between kinky twists big and small, box braids, weaves, huge afros, bantu knots and my small afro. It is fun and exciting.
My hair is me and I enjoy me.
